Itinerário
Upon landing at São Luís-MA airport, our transfer will be waiting to take you to your booked accommodation in São Luís, the Hotel SPA Brisamar. There, the wonderful Caroline Aranha will welcome you and give you a warm welcome to the state of Maranhão.
After checking in at the hotel, take the opportunity to explore the city a little!

Today we depart for one of the most incredible places in the world, the Lençóis Maranhenses. To get ahead, pack your backpack only for the trekking portions you’ll need during the crossing days. Pack the rest of your luggage in another backpack or organizer and leave it at the hotel reception; it will be available for you upon your return.
We will leave São Luís at 4:00 AM for Barreirinhas (5-hour trip) where we will board our speedboat and navigate the Preguiças River. We will make a first stop to navigate a mangrove channel (depending on the tide) where we can observe various animal species, followed by a stop in front of the Pequenos Lençóis (Vassouras), where we will get a small glimpse of what the Lençóis are like. Afterwards, we continue to the village of Bar da Hora for lunch (lunch not included).
Today we’ll stay in the village, so after lunch we’ll have time to relax in a comfortable hammock. Finally, we’ll take a boat trip to catch the sunset on the Preguiças River along with the flight of the Scarlet Ibis.
After this incredible day, the evening will be free for dinner and rest before starting our adventure the next day.

We start the day after a delicious breakfast and set off for a tour of the productive backyards, a great experience of collective community organization, where we will learn about various sustainable and responsible initiatives and family farming.
After this open-air lesson in this incredible place, we’ll take a light walk to the village of Mandacarú to climb the lighthouse and enjoy an incredible view of this paradise, and return to Bar da Hora for lunch (lunch not included).
Afterwards, it’s a little time to relax in a hammock before starting the most anticipated adventure. At 2:00 PM, our speedboat will take us to Atins, and from there we’ll depart in a 4×4 to a place called Bandeira, approximately a 1 hour and 30 minute drive to the start of the trekking.
On this first day, we’ll begin trekking around 3:00 PM, hiking 9 km to the Baixa Grande oasis, passing by beautiful lagoons and, of course, taking a dip in some of them. On our first day of adventure, we’ll catch our sunset immersed in the Lençóis Maranhenses and then head to our support house.
After a shower, we’ll enjoy a delicious homemade meal, and then head to our hammocks for our first night’s sleep in the Lençóis Maranhenses.

The time has come to say goodbye to the magical Lençóis Maranhenses, but not before experiencing one last spectacle of nature. We will leave at 5 am to see the sunrise amidst fantastic dunes and lagoons. As we walk, you will feel all the energy of being surrounded by nature in one of the most incredible places in the world; it’s such a beautiful experience that it will be difficult to contain the emotion.
The hike will take us back to the starting point of the trek, where the 4×4 will be waiting for us to return to Atins and then take the boat to Bar da Hora. A delicious lunch awaits us, followed by a well-deserved rest. Afterwards, we take the boat to Barreirinhas and the car back to São Luís, where we will enjoy our last night in this very special land.
Accommodation: Double/couple room with breakfast included at the Hotel SPA Brisamar or similar, in São Luís – MA.
Meals included: Breakfast and lunch.
Total distance covered on foot: 9 km.
Transfer: 4 to 5 hours by car.
On your last day, take some time to rest and enjoy a delicious breakfast. Check-out will be at 11:00 AM, and you’ll have the morning free to relax and enjoy the final moments of this unforgettable journey through Maranhão.
Plan your return in advance, considering your flight time, and our transfer will take you back to the airport.
